writers’ manifesto…

writers-manifesto

you may
silence
our words
but
never
our thoughts
you may
uproot us
but
never
our history
you may
proclaim
victory
but
never
will we accept
defeat
so
the battle
rages
even while
you sleep
and
like
an earthquake
we shall
move
the very ground
you
stand on

the door will not close…

the door will not close

war’s
icy breath
chills down
to the soul
we have fallen
beneath
the frozen lake
of war
our clothing
of peace
is soaked
in a child’s blood
now
rigid
against
our flesh
as
hard
as
a devil’s armor
our
eyes for humanity
are frozen in place
by
frigid words
of
fear
and
denial of cruelty
so
we stare ahead
to
a shoreline
of promises
made by
blind men
who
neither
see
nor
feel
the wintry fingers
of
death
for
they warm
themselves
beside
the fire
of greed
all the time
proclaiming
they are
promoting
god’s
creed
but
when
did any god
offer
less
than
what
was
given

as you remember- recall…

a public service announcement

for all
that
is said
this day
all the words
of praise
for
bravery
and
courage
spoken loudly
by
those
truly concerned
and
those
unconcerned
seeking
glory
by association
no voice
will speak
as loud
as
the tears
from the eyes
of
those
who’ve
lost
loved ones
