it was
mandatory
sunday school
no sunday school
no
easter basket
full
of jellybeans
and
chocolate eggs
filled
with
sugary
creamy
oozy stuff
oh
and of course
those
colorful
hardboiled eggs
not nearly
as prized
as those gooey
yellow
marshmallow
chickens
ah one
could just imagine
their taste
during our
sunday school
lockup
oh
not only was attendance
required
but
we had to wear
the equivalent
of a prison uniform
which
we were advised
not
to get dirty
and
to remove
once our church
incarceration
had ended
of course
the purpose of attendance
was to instill
in each of us
an appreciation
for the more
adult
reason for
celebrating the day
but
we were children
and
the only rational
reason
for attendance
was to unlock
our parent’s heart
so that
said easter basket
would be
accessible
