such
unconstitutional behavior
would
of

not be tolerated

in this instance
for

all semblance

had

leave the damn sand hills alone…

image copyright Kenneth Dewy

now
i must make
a disclosure
i lived in
and
love
nebraska
so my feelings
about tar sand
may be viewed
as a little biased
but
i’m not getting paid
to say what i say
like a certain blond
i saw recently
on my computer screen
expounding upon
how
improved national security
and
jobs galore
would be pouring
into the country
because of our good neighbor
to the north
she was obviously
not from nebraska
where common sense
is prerequisite for existence
since she failed
to discuss
all the
advantages
from leaks
in the transcanada pipeline
for example
she didn’t talk
about the cheap fuel
that would be readily
available from
every drinking water tap
nor the preoiled critters
that would be available
at meal time
thus
saving a preparation step
no
she just
rambled on into
the abyss
of marketing greed
leaving me
with a mouthful
of oily canada sand

caution high voltage lines…

My friend Toni Cross has done it again…presented me with a photo and challenged me to write a poem based upon what I see…without any background information …just based upon what I see….of course in the true spirit of poetic brother/sisterhood I have sent her a photograph with the same detailed information that she provided me….I certainly hope you enjoy each of our poems.

sorry
i have some
bad news
for you
the power
has been off for years
in this damn societal enclave
the only thing running through
these lines
is yesterday’s dreams
this recycled ball of trash
that we have been living on
ain’t worth the cost
of the security system
we keep spending billions
on a worn out corner of the globe
that erupts in smoke and ash
flowing with blood-red lava
through the veins of history
shakin’ like some old damn car
just before the wheels fall off
yet
folks we elect
keep telling us
for national security
we must spend more
for an old wooden door
with rusty hinges
shut tight
years ago
with nails
of fate
and
neglect
for true
human
rights

shadow gypsies…

shadow gypsies
seeking asylum
from war’s certain death
walk among you
but you do not see
the scars of fear
nor the tracings of tears
tattooed upon their faces
you see only a threat
national security
job security
your way of life security
    a distorted image
    built upon a glowing self-worth
these gypsies
the walking dead
have left their graves
to find the fountain of freedom
written about in legend
a fable of true humanity
a legend you believed
but that was before so many wars
so many gypsies
seeking asylum
on
your shores
pleading outside
your doors
for one morsel of kindness
so now you see only
a beggar
not the father
not the son
nor holy ghost of humanity
just lumps
excreted from the bowels
of war
you slam
your doors
screaming at the top of
your lungs
that they should
go
back to
their
graves
for they
are already
dug
