rocks and stones…

rocks and stones

so many words
of
sorrow
but
none
that will
raise
the dead
nor
stop
the flow
of
tears
traversing
from
eye
to
chin
no
magical terms
to
erase
the pain
embedded
deep
within
hearts
as
love’s warmth
surrenders
to
death’s coldness
leaving
empty spaces
in
beds
spaces
filled
with
apparitions
of
life
life’s holograms
that
vanish
with
dawn’s first light
leaving
untouched pillows
and
broken
hearts

upon this plain of tears…

the night
knows your name
for you have returned
to this dark corner
where dreams die
over and over again
each time
reaching out
to touch the velvet wings
of hope
that flutter
beyond your reach
still you come
dressed for a celebration
while others wear
mourning clothes
but you
believe
in hope
and without
such
dreams
where would
the dreams
come from
that
salt
the seven
seas
