an incomplete equation…

an incommplete equation

i’ve started counting
heartbeats
ever since
i realized that
there’s
a finite number
of them
it helps me
fill the emptiness
when you’re
not around
it’s
for the most part
a pleasant sound
rather relaxing
when
staring into a dark sky
much better than
counting imaginary sheep
a practice
i’ve never really understood
sheep
always seemed
so
skittish to me
not
something to count
but
to be avoided
you should try
counting heartbeats
you’d be amazed
how loud
they can become
in the silence of darkness
how the sound resonates
in your chest
as you count
and wonder
what
the final total
will be

what you dreamed…

what you dreamed

have
you seen
the last star
it fades
from view
beyond
promises
unkept by prayers
count its
last lights
glimmers
gone now
like your words
words heard
but
never done
count
the last heartbeats
of
the star

breathe deep my love…

Image provided by Vlad

fingers move
gliding through
extended time
floating on skin
tracing passion’s contour
no lines of separation
the glow of  morning
no other sounds
but
heartbeats
and
slow breaths
deep
as each kiss shared
words fade into gentle touches
and soft kisses
rippling down the spine
there is nothing called time
again
lips meet
part
sharing even
the air they breathe

This is the fourth part of a series of poetry challenges between Jade (http://jadepaloma.wordpress.com/) and me. The whole idea behind it is to send a picture ( in this case by Vlad) to the other as inspiration (or visual muse, if you want to), and the other has to write a poem inspired by the image. Visit her site to see how she has responded to m third challenge photograph on her site.
