i should have been
surprised
but
wasn’t
when
i saw
the brown bag prophet
folding
christmas cards
into
paper airplanes
for
some reason
i
suspected
that would be
representative
of
his attitude
towards
such
a commercial
holiday
what surprised me
was
that
he was singing
christmas carols
as
he folded
so
i was once again
compelled
to
ask
what he was doing
and
why
the prophet said
i’m making
you’re loved cards
to
send over
the wall
of
hate and ignorance
at
the border
they’re
for
all souls
women
men
parents and children
who’ve been
brutalized
raped
then
demonized
for
political reasons
by
the soulless
so
i sat down
with
the prophet
and
began
folding
