shells…

so colorful
on
the outside
firm
to the touch
yet
fragile
so
easily
shattered
by
time’s tide
when
cast
upon
the rocks
of
unfulfilled vows
it’s
then
when we realize
the shells
are
as
empty
as
the lives
of
liars

for the good of the country…

trickle
down
honesty
and as
necessary
outright
lies and denial
there’s
no need
in
respecting
oaths
sworn on a book
regardless
of
its symbolism
to
society
although
such
sentimental thinking
is
taught in schools
it’s
rarely practice
in
the real world
we
have
to accept
all the shades
of
black
that define
the world
of
politics
people dying
for
the uncommon good
is
just how
the rich
get
richer
fantasies
of
freedom
and
justice for all
are
merely
promotionals
not
to be
taken
seriously
which most
americans
apparently
have grown
to accept
given
their
voting record
these days

interrogation gone wrong…

24
saudi assassins
at
my door
i
wonder
what’s in store
for
me
will i have my knees
when
they are gone
or
will the dawn
find
me
kneeless
or
worse yet
breathless
