morning light…

morning light

like a lover’s kiss
dawn’s light enters the bedroom
our new day’s awake

our new day’s awake
moving quietly around
not one sound is made

not one sound is made
as it touches each closed eye
like a lover’s kiss

this day…

the night
has found
your dreams
and returned
them to you
you need not
wander alone
along the shore
of expectation
skipping stones of desire
into a murky sea
come lie with me
before the dawn
touches your lips
and before the sun
tolls the noon day bell
breathe in the beauty
of the gift
of a day
with love

a moment of doubt…

his words
her fears
the shoulders
of her desires
desires long hidden
now pressed naked
against his chest
his gentle tones
nibbled softly
on her ear
his promises
like kisses
moved slowly
down her neck
and although
she approached
the dawn
with fear
a single rose
breakfast in bed
her fears

stare beyond
the tangled branches
of your past
into the sunrise
of the new day
behold the array
of colors
that mark
the wonders of the day
embrace it
like no other
with the new dawn
hold it
as dear

Final Challenge Image from Jade

with the lights on
there is nothing to fear
this is just another hotel room
a place for
an itinerate soul to visit
everything seems in place
when the lights are off
this place becomes a prison
nothing is where it’s supposed to be
the floor
is quicksand beneath my feet
the door has bars of anger
holding back my freedom
my thoughts rattle
around the room
seeking a familiar corner
the air is foul
stale with formality
my misery
has no place to hide
it cannot find
a warm spot to rest
so it paces
back and forth
in my mind
refusing to rest
until the dawn
when i release it outside
where it can run away from me
and swing in the trees
with childish expectations
but it is hours
before dawn
so i sit alone
with the lights

This poem represents my last response to  the second challenge series between Jade and I.  As you may recall, each poet provides the other with a series of photos, visual prompts,  from which the poet is to write a poem.  Jade has written her response which can be found here

these words i write…

Photograph by Vlad

my words
are all around you
feel them
against your skin
gentle as my lips
tracing the curvature
of your spine
in our warm bed
before morning’s dawn
do not ask if this will end
close your eyes
hold this moment
a gentle breeze
caressing the soul’s passion
holding our love
within this hallowed sanctuary
where each touch
is a sacred point
of the cross
in our love
where every breath
i take
a holy

Jade and Vlad have done it again…forced me to write a love poem during this challenge because of the image they provided.  For those of you new to this recent challenge…the whole idea behind it is to send a picture ( in this case by Vlad) to the other as inspiration (to the visual muse), and the other has to write a poem inspired by the image.  Please take a look at how Jade has responded to my most recent challenge photograph on her site.
