graffitied…

i was sharing
some photos
of
brazil
with
the brown bag prophet
i
expressed
my
bewilderment
that
even
churches
had been tagged
with
graffiti
i showed
him
pictures
of
rio
the prophet
said
that’s
merely
a civilized way
of
dissenting
when
i questioned
the
civility
of such actions
the prophet
noted
that
in our country
as well as
others
people
and
structures
are
violently
destroyed
for
their
religious
affiliation
he then asked
anything
you
wanna tag

nothing personal…

tourist items
manufactured in china
for
the local market
replicated
indigenous art
sold in
riverbank stalls
by
part-time natives
natives
carving out
an existence
in
a one percent world
complaints
issued
by
travelers
who’ve
already
sold their collective humanity
they are
the commune
of
anesthetized day-trippers
who
outline
verbally
over
an air-conditioned lunch
the crass nature
of
indigenous commerce
commerce
that
replicates
the
world
that provided
their passage
to
this
riverside
market

arson investigation…

the fire
danger rating
was
low
for this
pristine temple
graced
with angelic beauty
so
suspicion
of arson
was on
everyone’s mind
especially
when an accelerant
was found
the witnesses
conveyed
possible motives
for arson
but
law enforcement
officials
noted
procedures
must be
followed
regardless
of
the possible lost
or
tampering
with
evidence
this is
brazilian
policy
for investigating
a man-made blaze
of a temple
called
woman
built
by
god
