war’s icy breath chills down to the soul we have fallen beneath the frozen lake of war our clothing of peace is soaked in a child’s blood now rigid against our flesh as hard as a devil’s armor our eyes for humanity are frozen in place by frigid words of fear and denial of cruelty so we stare ahead to a shoreline of promises made by blind men who neither see nor feel the wintry fingers of death for they warm themselves beside the fire of greed all the time proclaiming they are promoting god’s creed but when did any god offer less than what was given
embers of misunderstanding flamed by moral entrepreneurs’ righteous religious rhetoric have transubstantiated watery lies into the bloodied flesh of an innocent everyman a repeated scene where crowds of people gather along society’s street to commune on history’s stale wafers of ignorance ala’s revellers blinded by hate and fear partake in the celebration with stone throwing rituals as old as man’s incapacity to show tolerance for that which he cannot comprehend and so the darkness remains upon the deep and the earth is without form
there will be no prayers tonight for a dark mass has covered all the words of forgiveness and almighty praises oh would that i could read the words that should be heard in heaven bringing forth a spirit holy and so unblemished as to save the world but there is a dark mass covering all the words a mass of congealed blood shed not for the sins of others but as the sins of others
what words are the pain for a child’s death at the hands of festering hate what words heal the pain for a child’s death at the hands of those sworn to serve what words are reasons for a child’s death at the hands hidden behind law what words what words
you have long been dead what god there was in you has perished for when you tasted innocent blood you became a soulless dried weed caught up in the fetid winds of earthly judgement no god would speak to you you who prey upon children afraid to face your foe as a man rather you slither upon the earth at night stealing girl children from their beds like a pimp on a city street you have entered their lives and we pray that god’s judgement will be swift for you the faithless
boots stomp out the processional vows are exchanged rings of fire surround fleeing figures shattered bodies entwine with earth consummating this union of hate and pride with blood
