democracy’s tide…

take as fair warning
although the tide’s in right now
rocks remain below
perils for the ship of state
awaiting one more low tide

how mcdonald’s et al destroyed the world…

everything’s
fast food
what we
eat
read
and
how we
contemplate
the world
around us
it’s easy
to do
ipads
and
watches
deliver
takeout
predigested news
served up
with
side dishes
of
calorie laden
commercials
for
our consumption
carefully conceived
and
cooked up
by
monetizing
algorithmic
corporate chefs
and

since
our minds
are not feed
anything
to chew on
the
political
and
marketing lies
are
easily digested
by
democracy’s
couch potatoes
who
without
any
physical effort
on their part
not
even
the consumption
of
weight loss pills
still manage
to
lose
significant portions
of
their freedom

they’re just dying…

more friday drink rounds
no one looks up at the screen
flood victims and such
first round draft picks the topic
wished they’d continued with sports

accession…

accession

words
like rain
splash against
consciousness
build ups
of concerns
wiped away
by apathy
for it’s
all
been said
and
heard before
then
ignored
as
the drug
enters
the flesh
oh
there are
different types
of drugs
some
power
some
powdered
some
they inject
some
go unchecked
but
all
purchased
and
rarely
rejected
once
the taste
is acquired

orphanage…

orphanage

and this child
shall not cry out
and sling stones
at tormentors
nor
sift through
smoldering rubble
to find
something to sell
for a scrap of food
nor
shall this child
wail with war’s sorrow
as parents
are buried
no
this child
will not cry
nor
suffer the pangs
of hunger
for this child
has been embraced
in the warm arms
of death
sheltered
from the apathy
of mankind

stress reaction…

digital decoupage cwmartin 2011

it is
so easy
to let
the darkness
swallow hope
the weight
of despair
seems
impossible
to lift
and
the darkness
hides all
the good
the bad
the living
the dying
all vanish
in the darkness
you don’t
even have to
ignore
what’s
going on
it’s all hid
in a dark veil
of ignorance
just sit
quietly
and wait
for death
like everyone else
on
the planet
who has
given in
to
apathy

kodak moments…

these streets
lined with the memories
of broken bodies
folded into concrete
slabs of yesterday
provide a prefect
photo op
for you
you speak of god
and
promise to pray
for those
who have lost all
but
i do not know
by what name
you call
your god
but when your faith
lulls you into apathy
then is it
god

of tears
