my soul will not bleed you may tear away my flesh torture these old bones scream obscenities but i have learned of the truth and understand my self-worth so your words and deeds cannot penetrate my soul centuries of lies used as societal chains no longer bound my future to your perspective of life without breath or pulse i would rather be than forced to live as a slave to your will
a broken down
old man
just
a bag
of
bones
but
he’s
the
intended result
of
systemic injustice
in
an apartheid
or
caste system society
a government society
with
or
without
the label
democracy
anyway
such labels
merely conceal
the oppressor’s
identity
behind
some flag draped
excuse
for
the oppression
in reality
the only thing
that matters
is
that in the end
of
the social processing
you end up with
a broken down
old man
just
a bag
of
bones
who’s preoccupied
with
survival
and
is unable
to do
anything else
a small audience
as usual
high wagering
money
no object
for
the bettors
wagers
not
on winners
but
who
loses first
for
the social gladiators
chained together
could never
have
a real
winner
since
the victor
was obliged
to toss
their opponent’s body
over a ledge
into the sea
thus
dooming
the victor
to
the same
fate
as
his contrived
enemy
a curious
cultural battle
but
not
unlike
daily life
what shall we place on america’s gravestone here lies a nation aborted by its greed and intolerance of its own history or an unborn promise made with its fingers crossed concealed behind a back of hate and prejudice all the while scripting words constituting a justification for continuation of an oligarchy but with more than one king a feudal state with all the trappings of the middle ages
this path
of
freedom
is strewn
with
shards of hate
a path
not chosen
walking barefoot
into the night
pain
with
each step made
they say
i should be
grateful
that i’m
permitted
to walk
go ahead
sort
through
the array
of
definitions
of
a terrorist state
make
notes
if
you like
but
if you’re honest
your
findings
will
include
so-called
democracies
that
have had
apartheid processes
in
place
for
quite some time
nations
more
than willing
to
arrest
and
murder
their own citizens
to
maintain
political power
oh
the flags
may be different
but
the purposes
are
the same
and
the bodies
in
graves
are silenced
in
the same
way
