when death comes in large numbers all at once it’s like a sudden down pouring of rain that floods our consciousness shaking us to our very core but child death from hunger is more like a steady dripping in the background that we soon learn to ignore that sound we hear every ten seconds a child’s death a child’s death
We could also make the same argument using covid deaths. So many people died on 9/11 and we hurt for all those who are still mourning, but it is a drop in the bucket compared with those who have died from covid. And covid deaths have all but become preventable. During the pandemic we are finding childhood hunger is decreasing dramatically because the government is helping by supporting low-wage incomes. Yes I pay taxes happily to support these government programs. Oops, I seem to be taking up a lot of bloggers’ real estate with my opinions today.

I wonder how many children have died of hunger in anonymity in 20 years. I bet it’s more than 3000.
