after a pick up game
with
my nephew
and
some of his friends
i stopped by
aunt bea’s
being
in the neighborhood
of course
i bemoaned
my poor aching bones
and
expressed my wonderment
that
she didn’t
have more complaints
about
such things
aunt bea
said
honey
if i complained
about
every ache and pain
i had
because of my age
there would be
nothing else
to discuss
she said
i’ve found
with time
one
learns
to accept
the pain
as part
of the price
for
existence
and
i’ve grown
to know
that others
suffer
spiritual pains
far greater
than those
of
the body
awesome as always! your rock aunt bea!
Wise Aunt Bea, as always. 🙂
Your Aunt Bea is right – givens are not great fodder for discussion.
I choose pain of body over pain of spirit any day. Appropriate that I read this on Ascension Sunday – we have help with our spirit.
