palace of love…

palace of love

the crowds
pressed against crowds
to see what remained
of lovers’ dreams
rooms emptied
of
passionate nights
and
foolish promises
of
eternal love
now
only the commercial props
remain
observed by
a procession
of
would-be-dreamers
listening
via
audio devices
to a
narrated
guided tour
of
fragmented fantasies
always
staying behind
the ropes
unable
to realize
or
act upon
their own
dreams
