get on board…

get on board

i suppose
i had a day
like
many people
feeling excluded
from my own tomorrow
a bystander
waiting for others
to provide entry
into success
so
i stopped by
aunt bea’s
she took my hand
and said
honey
life
ain’t no limousine
waiting
for you
to arrive
it’s a
commuter train
you either
pay for the ticket
and
get on board
or
you watch it
leave you
behind
