too much christmas cheer…

too much christmas cheer

aunt bea
was sitting outside
when a nephew
decked out
and
alcohol-primed
for the holidays
sauntered by
and
decided
that
he needed
to comment
about her age
rambling something
about
what christmas future
held for her
she glared
at him
as only
only aunt bea can
with such
surgical precision
that
the young reveller
felt compelled
to apologize
immediately
with
the sudden awareness
of a fish out of water
pleading
for aunt bea
not to call his mother
to which
aunt bea replied
as she
reached
for her cane
honey
that’s the
least of
your
potential problems

  1. I introduced Aunt Bea to my daughter – now there are two of us in our family who love her. Wish her a Merry Christmas from me – and, oh, you too, Charles.
