the lament of st. julia…

ropes
braided
from
strips
of
national flags
were
placed
legally
around the necks
of victims
of
emotional
and
physical
abuse
and
drawn
tight
until
each person
could feel
their pulses
as
ropes
tightened
rhythmically
with each breath
they took
and then
stripped
of
all
human rights
women
stood
breasts
exposed
for
the entertainment
of
crowds
of
onlookers
as
the social gallows
upon which
they stood
opened
the trap-door
of
ignorance

  1. Olef from Muldova runs 3 safe homes at the present time. It is so sad how the women are exploited with a job offer in America, or the opportunity to attend school, then trapped in a sex trafficing ring, just for hoping for a different life. It’s sad also that Muslim women have to hide and meet in secret in order to just learn to speak english or read a book or to be educated. So much needs to be done.
