the return address was faded and the ink smeared no way of tracing its origin inside the envelope each letter on the sky blue paper was perfectly formed the scent of jasmine like a gentle kiss embraced me as i read come back to me you have been gone much too long can you not recall your dreams
It is a lovely poem in its own right, but you know what I like best? I like how the title thrusts me back in time and makes me think this moment in the poem has happened over and over with lovers. I like claudia’s read too. 😀
How did you capture exactly my sentiment? Bravo!
A beautiful call from an unknown.
I hope there’s a happy ending.
beautiful and very touching charles. sometimes people drift so far away that they forget the past itself, forget about dreams.
touching reminiscence

They are sometimes so far away, yet just beyond wishing. Nice write, my friend.

“I’m gonna sit right down and write myself a letter
And make believe it came from you…”
Now that song will be with me until I fall asleep! 🙂
I like that the letter from dreams is scented with jasmine.
Sometimes we’re move just beyond dreams.
Like that you linked to Nat King Cole’s version and not Elvis or Dean Martin.
