a parting thought…

copyright cwmartin 2011

you
are staring
into the mirror
as if it
can change
your fate
it
has no power
only
in fairy tales
does it transform
the grotesque gourd
of life
into a magical carriage
holding
your glass slippers
this world
requires that
you
take up arms
against ignorance
and
crawl through
the narrow passageways
lined
with razor wire prejudices
to reach
a tomorrow
defined
only
by
you

  1. Wow – what a fantastic poem – really love
    ‘crawl through
    the narrow passageways
    lined
    with razor wire prejudices’
    – it is so true – have to be forever on the lookout for and fight against prejudice

  2. This is so beautifully written. I believe each one of us can be the face of change. Thanks for putting inspiration out there for others.

  3. Great comparison with fairy tale Cinderella and ignorance and razor wire prejudices — a powerful comparison to show how much of a fairy tale the pumpkin carriage and glass slippers are.
