most days
i much prefer
to have my coffee
alone
but seeing
all the seats were taken
i could hardly say no
to the stranger
i thought to myself
he looks like
death warmed over
he said
thank you
but did i say that aloud
he said
no
as i stared into his eyes
i could see a thousand souls
he abruptly left
but left behind a package
i followed him
and ended up
in a small graveyard
i saw an open grave
its headstone
had no date
but the inscription read
live not
the lives of others
but your own
as i stared into the grave
i saw
a mirror
A bit creepy with my own morning coffee …
Captivating. Enjoyed it very much.
Spooky, Charles!
Wow! How do you do this, Charles!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????? Incredible, my friend!
the last two lines are priceless gem, another poem which made me stop and think if i am living my own life or another person’s.
Excellent and unexpected. I need to think more about this.
very strange brew…feeling quite introspective now 🙂
An eerie warning…I like this.
sounds like a dream or nightmare – complete with warning… love what you did with the image
live not
the lives of others
but your own
as i stared into the grave
i saw
a mirror
