medina walls….

framed photos
of children
lining the walls
of the old city
names whispered
in prayers
prayers offered
in behalf of a life
a life torn
from a mother’s womb
placed upon war’s altar
as a sacrifice
to intolerance
but like the sands
of the sahara
the names shift
forming the pillars
of resistance
that cannot be
destoryed
or moved
from within
the living
memory
of humanity
or anyone
with
a
soul

  1. So many die so they can get their names plastered on a wall.
    and the point???

    Beautifully spoken my friend

Moon smiles for a new day

  2. Hi Charles .. the Medina – brings all sorts of ideas to light .. this resonates of the sands of time .. and souls that will soar regardless. Thank you – Hilary

  3. IT’S LOOKED LIKE GATE WITH BIG ENTRANCE TO ME

IF YOU LIVE BEHIND THE WALL ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS BREAKING THE WALL
& THAT WILL MAKE YOU FREE AS HUMANS

BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT ANIMALS WHICH LIKES TO LIVE IN CAGES AS LONG AS HUMANS FEED IT

  4. No need to post this comment. Just thought you might want to fix “destoryed” … should it be “destoried” or “destroyed”? Powerful writing as usual. The image of the children lined against the wall reminded me of a firing squad. Echoes the horrors that were uncovered recently in the clinic up north.
