you stare
face pressed hard
against the glass
into the depths below
regally commenting
on the lower species
that have not
evolved
into you
had they but
tried
you say
they would be
where you are
bending down
staring into the abyss
of morose souls
bonded to the sea
of poverty and pain
but you are
certain
it’s all
their fault
no need for
concern
but
beware
my friend
hidden beyond your view
just beneath
the razor sharp coral
of discontent
lie
sharks
Wonderful…and so very deep.
Love and hugs. x
I like these lines:
“but you are
certain
it’s all
their fault
no need for
concern”
“just beneath
the razor sharp coral
of discontent
lie
sharks”
Evolution’s force/
Is beneath will’s consciousness/
To spite “creation”/

this is DEEP, Man!
Me likes it!
Good one, Charles,
Peace to you,

‘hidden beyond your view

sharks’ Super powerful lines. Loved the tone. Good job. Hope you are having fun. Be safe.
I read this with a sci-fi angle. Love it!! Awesome poem!! 🙂
wow – this is deep – i read it as a warning not to look down on others…very well done
Perhaps they are just staring back up at us, floating around in a boat instead of swimming through the clear water of our lives.
yes… beware the sharks – they can smell this sort of thinking from a long way away
“the razor sharp coral
of discontent”
is brilliant
very cool. i was so hoping as i approached the end that the beware was to one day notice as we peer through the glass bottom boat to those below, that if we would but look up, we’d notice a glass bottom boat above us, with another peering down.
but sharks….hey, i can dig that too.
peace bro!
Absolutely amazing ending!! I really thought this was a great view of people who feel they are superior.
Ohhh… the grass always looks greener on the other side! 🙂
The end to the poem was really awesome! I was caught unawares! *Sharks*!!!! Phheeewwww!!
a sense of morbidity..scary…I like 🙂

Awesome write.
Ohhh there is darkness just beyond the reader’s reach.
I’m always interested what inspires writers – I would love the story behind this deep dark piece.

vanity- cant say my heart is free from it, but i try to walk in the shoes of others for a long distance before letting it speak a word.
philosophy & humor together– you have a wonderful way w/ words Charlie.
Sharp! No pun. 🙂 and funny.
Very interesting – especially given the shark attacks in Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt recently.
