wars
do not end
but
enter
newborns’
bloodstreams
as dominant genes
passed down
generation
to
generation
lying
sometimes
dormant
for years
but always
present
needing
few
environmental
and
social factors
to cause
an outbreak
of
the disease
of war
which
quickly
suppresses
the recessive gene
of peace

the recessive gene
of peace…love how you put this…and i wished it were the other way round
A sadly apt metaphor. Well penned, Charles.
charles, you are right but we have to believe the opposite now, that peace will out, given a chance!
O yes, the question of if we humans are genetically wired for war/self destruction/violence in general is important –especially these days. We seem to have become immune to “war” because we’ve allowed certain ones to continue for so many years now. Something is seriously WRONG with this agenda. But can we change if it’s all genetic? If it is, are we doomed?
It would seem so, huh? Sad.
If only there were a vaccine – or gene therapy, for the tendency towards wars…
Your poetry is always so timeless and powerful, Charlie.
(Trying to catch up a little with your blog – it’s good to be reading you again!)
most probably you are right, atleast history keeps saying it.
